Politics and citizenship aside (I am a Canadian), Sargent Shriver had always been a bit of an hero to me, though I knew little of his life. As I grew up in South America, we felt the influence of the newly formed Peace Corp, and its volunteers who were working among poor communities. Here's a fascinating snapshot on Shriver, who just died at the age of 95.

January 2011.  The Peru project is on the drawing boards as we develop partnerships to make this happen.

October 2010.  Last week we celebrated an open house in Calgary, introducing a media project in Peru.  40 minutes drive from Lima is the community of Manchay, settled a few years ago by Quichua refugees, fleeing the violence in the Andes.  (See www.neufeldfoundation.com for a description).

The plan: to develop a studio here which will train Peruvians in production, creating some livelihood through micro-credit.  We're pleased to be on the ground floor of this.
